Foods Derived from Aspergillus Oryzae Are Not Novel

 In a consultation presented with the Irish Food Safety Authority, it was shown that dried heat-inactivated fungal biomass from the fungus Aspergillus oryzae is not considered to be a novel food. The fungal biomass, provided in powdered form has a history of consumption in food supplements as well as a range of other foods prior to 1997.
